Dosing a mouse by mouth is a quick, common procedure that is fraught with danger. Without proper training you can easily inflict a traumatic injury, and without proper equipment even the best trained technicians can cause inflammation with repeated doses.
We are proud to lead the way in transitioning rodent oral gavage away from traditional metal needles, which have been shown to damage the esophagus, to flexible, soft-tipped plastic tubes. Choose our 22ga/25mm (black) version for mouse pups, 20ga/30 or 38mm (yellow) for typical adult mice, 18ga/30 or 38mm (pink) for large mice, or the polyurethane 16ga/38mm model for viscous compounds.
If you are not sure which is best for you, request a free sample pack and try them all. Be sure to view our training video which shows how to properly scruff and dose with the plastic tubes; you may have to change your technique slightly if you are used to stainless steel.
