Rat infusion is the most common application for our equipment. A basic system includes a catheter, a Vascular Access Button™ for exteriorization, a swivel and tether system to protect the fluid line and allow the animal to move freely, and an infusion pump.
If your institute does not have a surgeon on site, in many parts of the world Charles River and Envigo can implant the catheter and Vascular Access Button™ as a surgical service so that the animals arrive at your lab recovered from surgery and ready for use.
In this example we are showing a jugular vein catheter, but any other administration site that can be catheterized is a possibility as well, such as femoral vein, carotid artery, intragastric and intrathecal.
For GLP infusion studies, use infusion pumps with modern occlusion alarms to be sure that the dose was delivered properly.
A typical application setup is listed below. Add all the pieces to your quote, build your quote piece by piece, or call one of our experienced team members to help guide you through the system best suited for your needs.
