Large Animal Continuous Ambulatory Infusion

Infusion studies on large animal species such as dogs and NHPs are typically conducted with a small infusion pump in the pocket of a specially-fitted jacket. The pump draws from a drug bag sized to the test article dose, and infuses through a line to an implanted subcutaneous access port.

Weighing only 180g, our OrchesTA™ model 500 peristaltic pump is one of the smallest ambulatory pumps on the market. The versatile pump can deliver flow rates from 0.1 to 100ml per hour and works with drug bags from 50 to 300ml in capacity. Battery life is approximately 1L.

Combine the model 500 with jackets from Lomir Biomedical and ports and infusion sets from Ava Biomedical for a complete system. Group housing of jacketed animals is possible as demonstrated in posters from Charles River Laboratories Montreal and Citoxlab France at the 2018 Society of Toxicology.
