Rat Bile Sampling, No Salt Replacement

Use this system for short-term bile collection where replacement salts are not indicated and no extra lines are needed for blood samples or infusion. During surgery, connect the bile duct catheter to the red port of an implanted two-channel Vascular Access Button™ and the duodenal catheter to the white port. Prime, then install, the VABR2L to connect the two ports so that bile can flow in an extracorporeal loop while the animal recovers from surgery. Rats can be pair housed with the VAB™ and loop connected.

To collect bile simply remove the loop and snap in a primed one-channel VAB™ tether that connects to the red port, leaving the white duodenal port unconnected. Bile should flow at its natural rate through the swivel and down to a collection vial at animal level.
