Use this system for short-term bile collection where replacement salts are not required and where two vascular catheters are placed, one for intermittent manual blood sampling and the other for continuous drug infusion from a syringe pump — four catheters in total.
During surgery, connect the bile duct catheter to the blue port of an implanted four-channel Vascular Access Button™, the duodenal catheter to the white port, and the venous and arterial catheter to the green and red ports. Prime then install the VABR4L to connect the blue and white ports so that bile can flow in an extracorporeal loop while the animal recovers from surgery, leaving the arterial and venous catheters locked.
